Privacy Policy

Version of 7 October 2026
This explains what personal data JK Verse collects, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and the choices you have. It applies to the JK Verse app and website.
What we collect
Account: your name, email (or a username for children's accounts), password (stored only as a secure hash), your role and your year of birth. We check your full date of birth at sign-up but keep only the year.
Profile details you choose to add: phone, education, location, learning goal and a short bio.
Learning activity: what you open and complete, quiz answers and scores, project submissions, certificates, goals, streaks and badges.
Community: ratings, reviews, discussion posts, reports you make, people you follow or block.
Messages you send and receive in the app.
Purchases and earnings: what you bought, amounts, refunds, and for creators and tutors the UPI ID used for payouts. Card and UPI payment details are handled by the payment provider; JK Verse never sees them.
Files you upload: videos, audio, PDFs and cover images. Location and camera details are removed from cover images when the server can process them.
Classes and tutoring: class membership, attendance, assignments, bookings, and for home tutoring the visit address.
Device and security: signed-in sessions (a device label and approximate network), and a phone alert token if you turn alerts on.
Plans: when you have JK Verse Plus (bought or given) and until when, and for schools how many student places they have.
Error reports: when the app crashes or hits an error, it sends the error message, the screen, the platform (web, Android or iPhone) and the app version. These reports don't include your account, and emails and phone numbers are removed from them.
How we use it
To run your account and the features you use: learning, classes, tutoring, messages, purchases and payouts.
To show your progress and recommend content. Recommendations use only your own learning.
To keep the community safe: automatic checks on new content and live classes, reports, moderation and blocking.
To send account emails (password reset, email verification) and, for parents who allow it, a weekly learning report.
To issue GST invoices for purchases, when invoicing is switched on.
We don't sell personal data and we don't show advertising.
Children
JK Verse treats anyone under 18 as a child. People under 18 can't sign up themselves: a parent or guardian creates their account and gives consent for their data to be used as described here. The consent is recorded with the date and the version of this policy.
Parents can hide categories, cap the difficulty level, and turn AI features and community discussions on or off. Discussions and written reviews start off for children.
Children can only message their own class teachers. Contact details and links can't be sent to or from a child, and parents can read these messages.
In public places a child is shown by first name and initial.
A parent can delete their child's account at any time.
Who sees your data
Parents: their child's learning, once the child approves the link or when the parent manages the account.
Teachers: names and progress of students on the work they assigned.
Schools: class totals, never one person's learning.
Other learners: your reviews and discussion posts on that content, and a creator's public profile.
Tutors and learners in a booking: what they need for the session, including a visit address, which is removed afterwards.
JK Verse staff: account details when handling reports, payments or support.
Service providers
We use these providers to run JK Verse. Each receives only what its job needs:
Payments and payouts: Razorpay.
AI features: the AI service configured by the operator. Learning material and your questions are sent to answer them; names, emails and phone numbers are not.
Email delivery: the email service configured by the operator.
File storage: the cloud storage service configured by the operator. Files are private and opened through short-lived links.
Phone alerts: Expo's push notification service.
Code questions: the code-running service configured by the operator receives the code you submit.
Video sessions: Jitsi (meet.jit.si) for tutoring rooms, unless a tutor uses their own Zoom, Meet, Teams or Webex link.
How long we keep it
Your account data stays while your account is open.
Class recordings are deleted after 60 days unless the teacher saves them as a lesson. Unfinished uploads are removed after 24 hours.
Files of drafts that are never published are removed after 90 days; the text is kept.
Records of AI use (no conversation text) are deleted after 90 days.
When you delete your account, your personal data is erased. We keep anonymised order and invoice records as tax law requires, moderation records for safety, and the record of your consent.
Your choices and rights
See and download everything your account holds, in Privacy & Security.
Correct your details from your profile.
Delete your account in Privacy & Security. This also withdraws your consent.
Turn emails, phone alerts and other notifications on or off in notification settings.
Ask a question or complain to the grievance officer below.
Security
Passwords are stored as secure hashes, two-step sign-in is available (and required for admins), you can sign out other devices at any time, and uploaded files are kept in private storage.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the version date above changes and you'll be asked to read and accept it again the next time you open the app.
